Official Sumter County Roster
The primary online source for Sumter County inmate records is the official Sumter County Jail page, which links to the InteropWeb jail roster. The roster is public, free to open, and no login requirement was found in the official roster view. It is operated through InteropWeb, a Synergistic Software platform, and it serves the Sumter County Jail population rather than the state prison population.
The roster has three useful tabs: Current Inmates, 24 Hours Arrests, and Inmates by Arrest Date. Current Inmates is the best starting point when the person may still be held at Sumter County Jail. The 24 Hours Arrests tab is useful when a person may have bonded out or been released shortly after booking. The arrest-date search is useful when the exact name spelling is uncertain but the booking date is known.
The Current Inmates roster shows the live roster format, including photos, name filtering, status, bond, arresting agency, and charge rows.
The screenshot fits the records task because it shows the same public fields a searcher must read before calling the jail or checking a court record.
Use Sumter County Jail Records
To find someone in the Sumter County jail, start with the roster tab that matches the timing of the arrest. A person arrested by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, Americus Police Department, Georgia State Patrol Americus, Department of Natural Resources, Webster County Sheriff's Office, or another agency may appear if that person was booked into the Sumter County Jail. The roster can also show released status in recent and arrest-date views.
- Open the county jail page or go directly to the InteropWeb roster linked from it.
- Use Current Inmates when the person may still be in the jail. Enter a last name or partial name in the optional name field.
- Use 24 Hours Arrests for very recent bookings, including entries that already show released status.
- Use Inmates by Arrest Date when the booking date is known. Select from and to dates, then run the search.
- Read the roster entry before calling. Capture the name, status, arrest date, arresting agency, total bond, warrant number, charge description, statute, and court field.
- If the person is missing, call the jail at (229) 924-4094 or use the Records Division fallback at the Sheriff's Office.
Sumter County Roster Fields
The Sumter County inmate records search is simple, but each tab has a different purpose. Current Inmates focuses on people still booked. The 24-hour tab catches very recent booking activity. The arrest-date tab adds date controls, which matter when the person has a common last name or when the arresting agency used a spelling that differs from what the family expects.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Current Inmates | tab/link | optional navigation | Shows people currently booked in Sumter County Jail. |
| 24 Hours Arrests | tab/link | optional navigation | Shows recent bookings and may include released status. |
| Inmates by Arrest Date | tab/link | optional navigation | Opens name and date-range search controls. |
| Filter By Inmate Name (Optional) | text | optional | Free-text name filter. Exact wildcard rules are not posted. |
| Select Date Range to Filter | date picker | optional/unspecified | Calendar controls include month, year, Today, Clear, OK, and Cancel options. |
| Search Inmates | button | n/a | Runs the selected name or date search. |
| Pagination | page links | optional | Use page links, Prev, and Next when results span more than one page. |
Note: Try a partial last name when punctuation, hyphens, apostrophes, or source-data spelling may be affecting the result.
Sumter County Inmate Profile Data
A Sumter County jail record is a booking record, not a final criminal history. It reflects jail intake data and the charge rows entered for the booking. Some rows show State Court or Superior Court, which helps route the next court-record search, but the prosecutor and court may later amend, add, reduce, dismiss, or indict charges. Bond can also change after a first appearance or later order.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Roster identity, often in all-caps last-name-first format. |
| Status | Examples include CURRENTLY BOOKED and RELEASED. |
| Photo | Booking photograph displayed inline when the entry is visible. |
| Sex | M or F marker from the public roster. |
| Height / Weight | Basic physical descriptors, with height shown in compact numeric form. |
| Address | City and state level address, not a full street address in inspected entries. |
| Arrest Date | Date shown in MM/DD/YYYY format. |
| Arresting Agency | Agency tied to the arrest or booking when available. |
| Days in Jail | Count from arrest date to the roster date or release. |
| Total Bond | Aggregate bond amount or NOT SET. |
| Charge Rows | Warrant number, counts, statute, description, misdemeanor/felony marker, and court. |
Sumter County Charges and Bond
Charge rows on the Sumter County inmate roster can include a warrant number, count, statute, description, M/F marker, and court. Research examples showed State Court and Superior Court values, with some blank court fields. A blank court field should not be treated as proof that no case exists. It can mean the jail entry has not yet been tied to a court row in the public roster view.
Total Bond appears at the inmate level. The roster examples included numeric totals and NOT SET. NOT SET can mean the court has not set a release amount, a hold prevents release, or the person needs a judge to review bond. A listed bond is still not a guarantee of release. Probation, parole, child-support, another-county, federal, or ICE holds can block release even when a dollar amount appears.
For court filings after booking, use the Georgia Courts e-access route for Sumter State or Sumter Superior and the Clerk's criminal contacts. The court side is separate from jail custody, so a person can leave the roster while the court case continues.
Sumter County Booking Process
A Sumter County inmate record starts when an arresting agency brings a person to the jail for booking. The roster evidence shows intake details such as identity, arresting agency, charge rows, bond status, and booking photograph. The 24 Hours Arrests page is useful because it can show a person who was booked and released before the current-inmates list is checked.
The official county sources did not publish a detailed intake timeline, medical-screening procedure, fingerprint timing, property-release rule, or classification process. Use the roster for the public booking facts, then call the jail for current release, property, visit, and bond-posting instructions. A jail booking record should be read as a custody record, not as the final court outcome.
Sumter County Records Fallbacks
When the roster is down or a name does not appear, use the Sumter County Sheriff's Office records path. The Sheriff's Office page lists the agency at 352 McMath Mill Road, Americus, with public hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sheriff Eric Bryant is shown on the official page, and the same main phone, (229) 924-4094, is used for the Sheriff's Office and jail.
Sumter County Jail
352 McMath Mill Road
Americus, GA 31719
(229) 924-4094
Public hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Sumter County Correctional Institute
346 McMath Mill Road
Americus, GA 31709
(229) 928-4582
State-supervised correctional institute, not the county jail roster population.
In person, go to the Sheriff's Office or jail during posted public hours, ask for Records or jail staff, and bring identification. Georgia's Open Records Act allows oral or written requests, but a written request is the safer route for enforcement. Under O.C.G.A. § 50-18-71, available records must be produced within a reasonable time not exceeding three business days, or the agency must explain timing. Fees may include search, retrieval, redaction, and copies. The county FAQ also lists a local criminal-history fee of $20, cash only, through the Sheriff's Office Records Division.
County, GDC, Federal Custody
Sumter County inmate records split by custody system. The county jail roster covers local jail bookings. The Georgia Department of Corrections Find an Offender page and direct GDC offender query cover sentenced and state-supervised offenders. The BOP inmate locator covers sentenced federal inmates and federal releases after 1982, while the ICE Online Detainee Locator covers immigration custody. Federal pretrial custody is handled by the U.S. Marshals Service, which may use contract detention beds before a person is sentenced or designated to BOP.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| County jail | Sumter County InteropWeb roster | Current and recent Sumter County Jail bookings, including pretrial detainees and short local sentences. |
| State prison / SCCI | GDC offender locator | Sentenced Georgia offenders and people assigned to facilities such as Sumter County Correctional Institute. |
| Federal sentenced | BOP inmate locator | Federal prisoners after sentencing or designation. |
| Federal pretrial | U.S. Marshals Service and the holding facility | Federal court custody before conviction or transfer to BOP. |
| Immigration | ICE Online Detainee Locator | ICE custody, including detainees outside Sumter County. |
VINELink is also available for Georgia custody and release notification where the interface confirms coverage. It should be used as a notification aid, not as the only proof that someone is or is not in jail.
Sumter County Jail Visits
The official Sumter County Jail page does not publish a detailed jail visitation schedule, video-visit vendor, mail format, phone vendor, or commissary vendor. The county page does publish the jail address, phone, fax, command contacts, and public hours. Confirm current custody on the roster before planning a visit or sending money, then call the jail to ask about ID, visitor lists, visit type, mail rules, and deposit methods.
| Item | Officially Located Detail |

Sumter County Sheriff App
The Sumter County Sheriff's Office iOS app is another access channel. The App Store listing names the developer as Sumter County Sheriff's Office and advertises inmate search, sex offenders, Most Wanted, Submit a Tip with photos, news, social media posts, alerts, and sheriff's office contact information. No official Georgia Google Play listing was located, so the Apple listing is the documented app source.
The sheriff's app listing is relevant when the website roster is unavailable or when a user needs app-advertised features such as Most Wanted or tip submission.
The app does not replace the jail phone line, written records requests, GDC, BOP, ICE, or VINELink, but it is part of the documented Sumter County access chain.
